Examples of Flashings


Any protrusion through the shingle deck must be properly flashed to prevent leaking. Flashing must be placed around all stacks, chimneys, and skylights. Flashing is also used in areas where a section of roofing joins a wall.
The last 3 pictures above show proper flashing of a soilstack and chimneys. Two shingles under the flashing and the next two cut over the flashing. Water will run over the flashing and not under it.
